Army-Navy Game Ball To Run Through Bucks County On Friday

The West Point Marathon Team is expected to cross into Pennsylvania Friday morning over the New Hope-Lambertville Free Bridge.

NEW HOPE BOROUGH, PA — Bucks County will get a chance to cheer on Army as the West Point Marathon Team runs the game ball through Bucks County on its way to Philadelphia for the big Army-Navy Game on Saturday, Dec. 10.

In the days leading up to the game, the game balls will be run from Maryland and New York to Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia where the Army Black Knights are scheduled to take on the Navy Midshipmen in one of college football’s greatest rivalries.

The Navy runners will cover approximately 135 miles from Annapolis, M.D., to Philadelphia while the Army runners will clock in at 160 miles from West Point, N.Y., to the City of Brotherly Love.

Both teams will then run onto the field prior to the start of the game to present each game ball.

The West Point Team will step off on Thursday, Dec. 8 on its journey south from West Point, New York to Philadelphia.

On Friday, December 9 at approximately 10 a.m., the team is scheduled to cross into Pennsylvania and Bucks County over the New Hope-Lambertville free bridge.

With game ball in hand and escorted by the New Hope Borough Police Department, they will run south on South Main Street to Windy Bush Road (Route 232). The marathon will then head west on Route 232.

Residents are encouraged to come out onto Main Street in New Hope to welcome the cadets and to cheer them on as they complete the final leg to Philadelphia.

The Solebury Township Police Department will take over the escort at Aquetong Road.

The Marathon Team is then expected to head west on Route 232 through Upper Makefield and Wrightstown Township, although the route and the timing remains fluid.

In a Facebook posting, the Northampton Township Police Department said the game ball is expected to travel through the township between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., possibly stopping at the Richboro Wawa. They will be posting additional details on the police department's Facebook page Friday morning.
