The students are among 16,000 semifinalists who qualified by posting one of the state’s highest scores on the 2020 Preliminary SAT, according to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
Semifinalists must submit an application with a recommendation from an official at their high school to earn a spot as a finalist. The corporation is set to award about 7,500 scholarships worth almost $30 million by the end of July 2022.
