14th Annual Newtown Library 5K Set For Oct. 2

Newtown Library's annual race will be held in conjunction with Newtown Market Day. Both events are back after a pandemic-enforced hiatus.

NEWTOWN, PA — The Newtown Library will hold its 14th annual Library 5K Run/Walk on Newtown Market Day, scheduled for Oct. 2 this year. Both events are returning to Newtown after a pandemic-enforced hiatus in 2020.

Registration for the 5K race will start at 8 a.m., with the event to kick off an hour later. A short yoga event is scheduled for 8:45 a.m. at the library to help runners and walkers prepare for the race.

The race will follow a trail through Newtown Borough and end outside the library, where Market Day booths and festivities will be set up, organizers said.

Registration for the event costs $30 per runner or walker, though groups of at least three racers can register for $25 each by Oct. 1. Registration on the day of the race will cost $35 per person.

The top male and female finishers will receive awards, while the first 100 people who register online will receive T-shirts, organizers said. All children who participate in the race will get grab bags.

Newtown Market Day is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 2 at Court Street and Centre Avenue in the borough. The free event will feature craftworkers, artisans and fine artists, colonial-era demonstrations and reenactments, as well as entertainment and other activities.

Market Day will also include a book sale at the Newtown Library.
