5 Doylestown Nonprofits To Support This Holiday Season
With the giving season nearly here, Patch readers should check out some of these local non-profit groups while considering local donations.
DOYLESTOWN, PA —If you’re like many of your Doylestown neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends. Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.
Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups. Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.
Maintaining funding is a constant challenge for many nonprofits that fill gaps and meet other needs in the Doylestown area.

Here are five local nonprofits to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday:
1. Doylestown Historical Society. The mission of the society is to preserve and celebrate the creative and historic significance of Doylestown and its neighboring communities.

2. The Kin Wellness Center. Kin is an all-inclusive 5,000 square foot retreat center, offering integrative services, support, fitness and therapy. The Center is free to any Bucks County, PA residents battling cancer regardless of where they are receiving treatment, also welcoming family and caregivers. Kin is madepossible by generous donations from the local Bucks County Community. Kin’s mission is to help people find calm and peace and center themselves in a restorative environment. We strive to help bring people to a place where they feel empowered to manage their diagnosis through treatment, recovery and beyond.
3. Doylestown Fire Company No. 1: Doylestown Fire Company No. 1 is an all-volunteer force located in Doylestown. The company serves Doylestown Borough, Doylestown Township and assigned areas of Buckingham Township, New Britain Borough and New Britain Township. The company has a dedicated team of about 100 volunteer firefighters and staff members with a mission to provide excellent fire, rescue, fire prevention, and public education services to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the community. The company has served the Doylestown community since 1879.
4. The Village Improvement Association: The more than 300 women strong VIA dedicates its considerable energies to the improvement of life in Doylestown and the Central Bucks region. In addition to health services, the VIA offers supports one-time grants to community efforts, awards scholarships to high-achieving high school seniors and women pursuing professional careers, and provides a variety of support through its welfare fund for emergent needs of community members.
5. The Bucks County Opportunity Council: As the lead anti-poverty nonprofit in Bucks County, the mission of the Bucks County Opportunity Council (BCOC) is to reduce poverty and partner with the community to promote self-sufficiency. The BCOC operates five key programs: Housing, Food, Economic Self-Sufficiency, Weatherization, and Volunteer Income Tax Preparation (VITA). During the 2023-24 program year, BCOC served 57,738 people within its five programs areas.
