5K Jobs Open At PA Companies On Fortune's 'Best To Work For' List

The business magazine Fortune, in partnership with analytics firm Great Place to Work, has released its annual list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For in the United States.

Four of the best companies to work for in the nation are based in Pennsylvania, and according to Fortune, they collectively have nearly 5,000 job openings.

Hilton took home the top spot on the list for the second year in a row, with Ultimate Software and Wegmans Food Markets rounding out the top three.

Here's a look at the Pennsylvania companies included on the list:

Power Home Remodeling

• Percentage of women: 15.7
• Percentage of minorities: 20.1
• Revenue in 2019 ($M): $700

At Power Home Remodeling, entry level employees can earn up to $100,000 a year if they meet their goals. Nearly 90 percent of the company's executives started out in entry-level positions, according to Fortune.

SAP America

At SAP, employees with new business ideas can use the company's "product incubator," which Fortune says gives employees the chance to develop their ideas into products for SAP’s customers.

Comcast NBC Universal

Employees at Comcast say they appreciate the possibility of advancement within the 140,000-employee company. "Accelerated leadership programs give rising executives a chance to break into senior management, while an NBCUniversal career-relaunch program fosters the talent of those coming off an extended break from work," Fortune says.

Sheetz

The Altoona-based company offers many perks, including subsidized child care, college tuition reimbursement, and sick time for part-time employees. The company recently gave an across-the-board wage increase to employees.

To be considered for the list, companies submitted an application detailing over 200 data points describing their HR programs and practices. Great Place to Work, an analytics firm that has partnered with Fortune to create the list for the past 23 years, then conducted an anonymous survey of each company's workforce.

In total, 85 percent of the evaluation was based on what employees reported in the survey about “their experiences of trust and reaching their full human potential as part of their organization,” according to a methodology section for the rankings on Fortune’s website.

Companies need to employ at least 1,000 U.S. employees to be considered for the list, and government agencies aren’t eligible.
