August Goat Yoga Classes Open For Registration In Newtown

If you want to practice mindfulness and de-stress in the company of an adorable baby goat, Namaaaaste Goat Yoga has the class for you.

NEWTOWN, PA — Goat yoga is back in the park, with two classes still open for registration in August.

Namaaaaste Goat Yoga will offer these classes out of Veteran's Park. The organization feels that engaging with farm animals in a yoga practice adds a fun element of connection with nature to the popular exercise and mindfulness classes.

"Goat yoga allows guests to step outside of their everyday routine and remind[s] them to not take life so seriously," the class description reads. "See how the goats can help you connect with nature and how a soft touch from goat or two, is just the extra push you need in your practice."

In an email to Patch a few years ago, Eileen Bowden explained the principle behind the classes.

"The premise behind goat yoga is adding animal and laughter therapy to enhance one's yoga practice," she said. "Studies on animal and laughter therapy have shown animals have a measurable effect on our physiology."
