"The contractor is currently looking at options to expedite the completion of work," said a PennDOT spokesperson.
WRIGHTSTOWN, PA — The Second Street Pike Bridge linking Northampton and Wrightstown townships is slated to close in January for about a month for bridge repair work, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has announced.
According to PennDOT, the bridge is undermined and the foundation has been compromised. During the closure, the contractor will be constructing a concrete invert slab to stabilize the foundation and make necessary repairs to the masonry structure, PennDOT said.
The bridge, which carries Route 232 (Second Street Pike) over the Neshaminy Creek, is slated to close on Monday, Jan. 6, and is expected to remain closed through Jan. 30. Route 232 will be closed and detoured 24/7 between Twining Road and Sacketts Ford Road in Northampton Township.
