Brush Fires Tackled Friday In Upper Makefield

Two brush fires were reported Friday in Upper Makefield. One on River Road and another on Highland Road. They have been extinguished.

UPPER MAKEFIELD, PA — Two brush fires were reported Friday in Upper Makefield, according to police.

The first brush fire was reported along River Road, across from the David Library. It was quickly extinguished by fire personnel, police said.

"Although the exact cause of the fire is unknown, we ask that you please do not discard lit cigarettes in anything else but an ashtray," police advised.

Hours later, police reported a second fire along the 1000 block of Highland Road.

The fire broke out in the corn field that runs behind houses along Woodhill Road and the Vintage Farm development, police said. That fire was also quickly extinguished.

"At this time, we do not know the cause of the fire, but it is under investigation by the Upper Makefield Township Fire Marshall," police said.
