WRIGHTSTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Middletown Grange Fair experience just got a lot sweeter.

Bucks County's famous creamery - Owowcow - has joined the lineup of food vendors for this year's fair to be held from Wednesday, August 13 to Sunday, August 17 at the fairgrounds off of Penns Park Road in Wrightstown Township.

"We're super excited to be doing the Grange Fair. This is the first year we've done it," said the creamery's managing director Shira Tizer Wade. "The Grange Fair is such a quintessential Bucks County event and we're excited to finally be a part of to support local agriculture and local dairy, which we do year round. Just to be part of the fun will be super."

According to Wade, the creamery will be scooping four ice cream flavors at the fair - Cookie Monstah, Madagascar Vanilla, I Hate Chocolate and Perfect Sundays - in cups and waffle cones. In addition, they will be offering sorbet popsicles, some vegan and non-dairy options and a special peach sundae.

The peach sundae will be made with local peaches, vanilla ice cream, housemade caramel from Raymer's Candies in Doylestown, and topped with organic whipped cream.

"If people want more than the four flavors we're bringing, our shop is literally a stone's throw away," said Wade. The store is located at the Shoppes at Wrightstown at 591 Durham Road less than a mile from the fairgrounds.

But that's not all.

The creamery will also be spotlighting a special flavor - available only at the Grange Fair. It's called "Perfect Sundays," which is also the name of a new TV series being shot at an Upper Bucks County farm not far from their home base of operations in Ottsville.

According to Wade, the series is about a farming family that runs into financial difficulties when its patriarch passes away and the remaining family members turn to ice cream to save the family farm.

Wade said Owowcow has been advising the directors of the series on all things ice cream. In fact, the special flavor they will be offering - Perfect Sundays - is based on the ice cream the female lead in the show creates that hopefully pulls the farm and the family out of financial ruin.

According to Wade, "Perfect Sundays" features vanilla ice cream with candied maple walnuts, local strawberries and a house made fudge. It will be available in cups and cones at the fair.

"This will be the first tease of the flavor - and it's very good," said Wade.

According to series producers Sam Goldberg and Rupa Mehta, the story is familiar to farmers, but also to anyone who recognizes the internal battles of depression, and its devastating effects on a family.

"Set in the heart of rural America, this series makes universal the story of one farm family who knows they must keep trying despite it all. And the answer they’re looking for just happens to be ice cream," says the series synopsis.

According to Wade, the production crew expect to be filming during one of the days at the fair.

"The series will be released in 2026," said Wade. "When that happens, we'll bring the flavor back in all of our stores."

Since 2009, Owowcow has been hand-crafting super-premium ice cream from scratch using local organic and natural ingredients that support local agriculture.

Its ice cream cases hold 24 flavors of ice cream, including 12 signature core flavors that the creamery makes year-round at all stores. The other spots are filled with monthly specials and seasonal favorites, along with dairy-free sorbet and vegan ice cream.

Owowcow has locations in Wrightstown, Chalfont, Ottsville, and Easton in Pennsylvania, and Lambertville, New Jersey.
