​Coming Attractions: Music, Movies, And Magic At The Newtown Theatre

The week ahead will feature an illusionist, silent shorts, the Movie Club, the Greatest Hits of Broadway, and lots more.

NEWTOWN, PA — The Greatest Hits of Broadway. Silent Shorts. And Krendl the Illusionist are coming to the stage and screen this month at the historic Newtown Theatre.

  • “The Greatest Hits of Broadway” on Wednesday, September 10 at 3 p.m. Back for a third year, this special matinee concert will feature four professional singers and a live band playing Broadway’s greatest songs, old and new.
  • “Movie Club: “Somewhere in Time (1981),” starring Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour, on Wednesday, September 10 at 7:30 p.m. Each Movie Club film is introduced by Emmy Award winner and film historian Joe Amodei, President/CEO of Virgil Films & Entertainment. After the movie, Amodei and various special guests will discuss the film with participation from the audience.
  • “Charlie Chaplin’s Silent Shorts” on Thursday, September 11 at 7:30 p.m. This special event will feature several of Chaplin’s silent films accompanied by Not So Silent Cinema Orchestra – a chamber music ensemble that performs live music to silent films.
  • “Iconic Women of Music with Rae Radick” on Friday, September 12 at 8 p.m. Celebrate the power of legendary women in music with this high-energy tribute concert featuring timeless hits from icons like Dolly Parton, Cher, Stevie Nicks, Tina Turner, Shania Twain, Janis Joplin, and more. This show is headlined by Richboro native Rae Radick.
  • “Sweet Justice: ‘The Naked Gun’ and Duck Donuts” on Saturday, September 13 at 8 p.m. The evening will start at 7:00 p.m. with a donut “buffet” featuring samples from 20 different Duck Donuts, one free drink (alcoholic or non), movie trivia, and special movie-themed prizes. At 8:00 PM, enjoy a screening of 1988’s “The Naked Gun.”
  • "Krendl the Illusionist” on Sunday, September 14 at 3 p.m. This family friendly show features Krendl, a talented illusionist, creator and inspirationalist who has captivated audiences with his magic and charm for more than 30 years.

Tickets for all events are available at TheNewtownTheatre.com . Beer, wine, and canned cocktails will be available for purchase at the theatre before and during the shows. The theatre is located at 120 N. State Street in Newtown Borough.
