NEWTOWN, PA — After competing for the first time in two years, the Council Rock High School North Marching Band took home the first-place trophy in its division on Saturday, Oct. 9, during the Spectrum of Sound Marching Band Show, which is hosted by the Pennridge Music Associationat Pennridge High School in Perkasie.

The marching band performed its 2021 show 'Shattered' under the leadership of band director Wayne Bishop. According to the program description, the show "picks up where the fairy tale left off: the wicked queen is no more, but although the evil that lived within her mirror is broken and weak, it is far from defeated.”

The band was awarded the first-place trophy in the Liberty A division. The victory marks the first performance by the marching band since 2019, as well as the start of their competition season for the Cavalcade of Bands circuit, which runs for the next four weeks before the championship contest in Hershey on Nov. 13-14.

"I am extremely proud of the hard work and dedication our musicians and color guard have put into this show, committing to countless hours of rehearsals since August,” said Bishop in a statement.

“What’s more, this is the first time many members have competed in Cavalcade, since the pandemic canceled our competition season last year.”
