Council Rock South Puts North On Ice; Captures 2022 Rock Cup

In a high-energy game, the Golden Hawks scored four unanswered goals against the North Indians.

WARWICK TOWNSHIP, PA — During an explosive game on Thanksgiving Eve, Council Rock South Ice Hockey shutout its crosstown rival, Council Rock North, to win the coveted Rock Cup.

In a high-energy match-up that rocked the Revolutions Ice Gardens in Warwick, the Golden Hawks scored four unanswered goals against the Indians to win the game and the prestigious cup before a sold out crowd.

The hard-hitting game got emotional in the second period when North’s Karson Grainey got ejected from the game after a fight broke out on the ice between Grainey and South’s defensive player Kevin Koles.

The South crowd went wild as Grainey, one of North’s most valuable player, was led off the ice and sent to the locker room.

Throughout the game, South dominated the puck keeping North’s goalie, Ian Goldberg, on constant defense.

Goldberg posted 38 saves while giving up four while South’s goalie Carson Lopez posted 22 saves and the shutout.

In addition to the game, it was Senior Recognition Night for both teams.

North recognized seniors Noah Epstein, Antonio Dilossi, Owen Stout and Zach Weissman while South recognized Carson Lopez, Samuel Reiter, Henry Flynn and Shawn Epstein.

North is coached by Varsity Head Coach Greg McDonald and assistant coaches Cory Zrinko and Bob Tuniewicz. South is coached by Joe Houk and assistant coaches Eric Michaels and Colin Murphy.
