NEWTOWN, PA — The Council Rock School Board will consider approval of a $246 million budget during a meeting Thursday. The budget will increase taxes by 3.1 percent.

The new tax rate will be 130.2160 mills — or $13.0216 per $100 of assessed property value. That's a $4.9 million increase in property tax revenue. The budget resolution that will be considered can be found here.

The district's revenue has suffered due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Last month, it was announced that teachers and administrators would be making $4.6 million in salary concessions to help with the budget gap.

"These salary concessions are a recognition of both the current and future difficulties facing the district and the community. The willingness of all CRSD employees to make these salary concessions during this difficult time is a testament to their dedication and commitment to the district and our students," Council Rock said in a statement.
