DUI Charges, Illegal Dumping: Newtown Township Crime Report

Police also investigated illegal dumping calls and a retail theft at the Village at Newtown Shopping Center.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between July 3 and 9:

July 3

  • At approximately 4:45 p.m. police were dispatched to the area of Terry Drive for the report of a possible theft of services/illegal dumping. The investigation is ongoing.

  • At approximately 1 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Nissan Rogue for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Freedom Drive. Upon speaking with the operator, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. The driver refused to submit blood for chemical testing, and charges are pending.
  • At approximately 2:30 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Dodge Charger for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and State Street. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

July 7

  • At approximately 10:15 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Toyota Tacoma for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Richboro Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

July 8

  • At approximately 1:45 p.m. police responded to Lululemon on South Eagle Road for the report of a retail theft that occurred earlier that day. The total value of loss was $476, and the investigation is ongoing at this time.

July 9

  • At approximately 7:45 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of Terry Drive for the report of a possible theft of services/illegal dumping. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
