Firefighters "Protect History" At Christmas Crossing In Upper Maefield
While Washington re-enacted the famous 1776 crossing of the Delaware, rescue crews stood by just in case they were needed.

UPPER MAKEFIELD, PA - The Upper Makefield Fire Company the Union Fire & Rescue of Titusville, N.J., spent a busy Christmas Day "Protecting History" at Washington Crossing Historic Park.
While George Washington along with his troops re-enacted the famous 1776 crossing of the Delaware, rescue crews stood by just in case they were needed.
The crossing on Christmas night in 1776 marked a pivotal moment in the American Revolution. Each year, thousands gather to relive the event, featuring hundreds of reenactors in full Continental Army uniform.

On Sunday, visitors of all ages were captivated as they heard General Washington deliver an inspiring speech and watched as the soldiers rowd across the river in replica Durham boats.

Both the Upper Makefield Fire Company and Union Fire & Rescue of Titusville, NJ, had boats in the water and firefighters along the shore to protect participants and visitors.
“With another safe Crossing in the books, we hope everyone enjoyed visiting over the holidays,” wrote the firefighters on their Facebook page.
