Gourmet To Go Seafood Store Closing Its Doors In Newtown

A Newtown Township couple brought the South Jersey-based store to Newtown in 2023 along with its famous handmade lump crab cakes.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — A gourmet to-go seafood store is closing its doors at the Village at Newtown shopping center off of Eagle Road.

“After serving our wonderful community for the past few years, we are very sad to announce that Bobby Chez Gourmet To Go will be closing its doors,” the business announced on Monday.

The last day for the takeout eatery known for its freshly-made lump crab cakes and other seafood dishes will be Friday, Oct. 31, the business announced on Facebook.

“It’s with a very heavy heart that we announce this, but we wanted to thank all of all loyal customers for your continued support,” wrote owners Keith and Andrea Schultz of Newtown Township.

“We have made such amazing friends and memories over these last 2 1/2 years. We are filled with gratitude for every visit and every conversation shared and we truly loved every minute of it. Come and see us and get some of your favorites!”

Chef Bobby Chez opened his first Bobby Chez Seafood Specialties store in 1997 in Voorhees, NJ. The store's signature jumbo lump crabcake quickly became famous, winning multiple state and regional awards.
