Gunshot Leads To Arrest, DUI Suspected In Multiple Vehicle Crash: Newtown Twp. Police Report
Police make arrests for suspected DU; juvenile taken into custody on aggravated assault charge; more thefts from vehicles reported.
NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between August 22 and August 28:
August 22
- Police received more reports of thefts from unlocked vehicles. The public is reminded to remove valuables and to lock their cars when not in use.
- At approximately 8:30 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Subaru sedan for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Durham Road and West Road. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending.
- At approximately 11:30 p.m., police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence for the report of a disturbance. As a result of the investigation, one juvenile male was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
August 23

- At approximately 11:55 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of Second Street Pike and Swamp Road in Wrightstown Township for a traffic accident involving multiple vehicles. An investigation by police found that one of the drivers may have been driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
- While conducting the traffic accident investigation on Second Street Pike, officers heard a gunshot nearby. As a result of the investigation, a man was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct.
August 24
- At approximately 3:30 p.m., police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence for the report of a disturbance. As a result of the investigation, a man was arrested and charged with simple assault.
August 27

- At approximately 10:40 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a GMC SUV for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Buck Road and Mill Pond Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
August 28
- At approximately 1:45 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Cadillac sedan for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Richboro Road and Mill Pond Road. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending.
