PA Thanksgiving Forecast: Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued
High winds are possible in PA and the entire Northeast on Thanksgiving. Look out for travel disruptions. Parade balloons may be grounded.
PENNSYLVANIA — Forecasters are tracking a system that could bring "very windy conditions" to Pennsylvania and the entire Northeast on Thanksgiving. Travel disruptions are possible, as gusts up to 45 miles per hour are possible Wednesday into Thursday.
Forecasters with the National Weather Service have issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook, saying the system may bring the "very" windy conditions late Wednesday into Thanksgiving.
The winds are part of the same system expected to bring snow to the Midwest midweek. The storm, a low pressure system, could cause delays at some Northeast airports, forecasters warn. Snow showers are possible in parts of New England and upstate New York.

The winds could also threaten the famous Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. Balloons in the annual parade can only be operated if sustained winds are below 23 mph and wind gusts are under 34 mph, AccuWeather reported.
"Gusts are forecast to frequent 30-50 mph from the north and northwest on Thanksgiving Day in the New York metro area," AccuWeather Meteorologist Courtney Travis said.

The last time the parade's balloons were grounded due to weather was in 1971, The New York Times reported.
In the Philadelphia region, the week gets off to a mild and dry start, with highs in the low 50s Monday. On Tuesday, it will warm up with a high in the upper 50s. There is a chance of showers on Wednesday.
On Thursday, which is Thanksgiving, expect windy yet sunny conditions, and highs in the upper 40s.
