Internationally Known Fiber Artist Showing At Newtown Gallery

Newtown Borough native presents "Sheer Joy," an exhibit showcasing her groundbreaking use of pantyhose in 2D fiber art.

NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — The ArtWRKD Exhibition Space and Gallery presents "Sheer Joy," a solo exhibit by internationally-known fiber artist Lucine, through August 17 at 128 South State Street, Newtown.

Gallery hours are Tuesday and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday by private appointment. The gallery is closed on Monday.

"Sheer Joy"- a visually and intellectually stimulating experience - is divided into two distinct collections - "Ripping the Seams" and "Liberation."

The "Liberation" collection delves into the historical interplay between hosiery and the feminist movement, offering a profound exploration of how hosiery, a seemingly everyday item, has played a role in the broader narrative of women's liberation.

In her "Ripping the Seams" collection, the Newtown Borough native reimagines the classic story of the Wizard of Oz, infusing it with new meaning and layers of interpretation through her unique pantyhose medium.

Lucine has built an international reputation for her groundbreaking use of pantyhose as a 2D fiber art medium and has captivated audiences worldwide with her innovative and thought-provoking works. Her art is deeply rooted in the conceptual themes of feminism and fashion within fine art.

Lucine's work has been celebrated for its compositional strength and its ability to challenge and expand the boundaries of traditional fiber art. Her innovative use of pantyhose transforms this everyday material into powerful visual statements that resonate with both historical significance and contemporary relevance.

Lucine has joined the gallery's Artist in Residence program and is a newly-signed represented artist with ArtWRKD, a full-service art consortium with a mission for discovering, fostering and sharing all mediums of original work by today’s best emerging artists through its curated exhibition space.

ArtWRKD focuses on an experiential relationship with artist, art, and patronage. The gallery hosts regular exhibitions, immersive experiences, curator groups, workshops and artists in residence, actively promoting artists.
