NEWTOWN, PA — Acclaimed singer-songwriter Joy Ike will perform a benefit concert for the local organization "A Love for Life," which funds research into pancreatic cancer.

Ike will perform at the Newtown Theatre on Dec. 9, at 6:30 p.m. She has spent more than a decade of her career performing shows around the world.

"Polished and precise, yet buoyed with an airy grace, Joy Ike paints with a broad palette that defies easy categorization," according to a news release from the University of Pennsylvania. "Born to Nigerian immigrants, the singer/songwriter's music, voice, and writing have drawn comparisons to female musicians such as Nina Simone, Laura Nyro, and Regina Spektor."
