Major Renovations Approved For Two Council Rock Schools
Northampton Township supervisors approved the additions at Richboro Elementary School and Hillcrest Elementary School.
NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA — The Northampton Township Board of Supervisors has cleared the way for the Council Rock School District to build additions at two of its elementary schools.
Richboro Elementary School will construct a 2,685 square foot building addition to store mechanical equipment as part of upgrades to the school's HVAC system, along with a 986 square foot improvement to the building entrance. A similar project will get underway at Hillcrest Elementary School in the summer of next year.
Doug Taylor, Operations Director for Council Rock School District, said the HVAC systems at both Hillcrest and Richboro needed improvements.

"Both of these facilities were constructed in the 1980s," Taylor said. "The infrastructure of these facilities is growing tired."
Construction at Hillcrest is scheduled to begin in Summer 2021 and end the following summer, with work on Richboro picking up after that and finishing in 2023. During construction, students and staff from both schools will be moved to Richboro Middle School.

"The projects are phased so that we can relocate these students," Taylor said.
Both projects are projected to cost about $23 million each, according to a plan submitted by the school board's finance committee submitted in April 2019.
