Meet The Candidates For Newtown Twp Supervisor

There are two open seats up for election on the Newtown Twp Board of Supervisors. Meet the four candidates on the ballot:

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The race for two seats on the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors is heating up, with four candidates vying for two spots.

Democrat incumbents John Mack and Dennis Fisher will take on Republican challengers T.J. Butler and Daniel Boyle.

Mack won a two-year seat in the 2017 election. Fisher was appointed to the board in 2018 to fill the remaining term of Democrat Jen Dix, who moved out of the township.

Mack and his wife, Debbie, have been township residents since 1995. Mack is the publisher of a pharmaceutical industry newsletter. In a biography shared on Patch, Mack points to his strong support for the anti-fracking resolution enacted by the Board of Supervisors, his introduction of the 2018 anti-discrimination ordinance that established the township's Human Relations Commission.

Fisher has been a resident of the township for 27 years. He was appointed to the township Planning Commission in 2006. In 2017, he was elected as Township Auditor; he has since stepped down so he could be on the Board of Supervisors. Fisher is retired after a 42-year career as a mental health professional. According to a biography shared on Patch, he's active in church affairs, is chairperson of the non-profit Liberia Education Project, and is the former vice chair and chairperson of the Newtown Democrats.

Butler has lived in the township for 25 years, according to his online biography. He is a Council Rock High School graduate who went on to attend Bucks County Community College and Millersville University.

He served as both a youth sports coach and on the Newtown Grant Homeowners Association for 6 years, his bio says. He leads the talent acquisition efforts at 1SEO.com I.T. Support & Digital Agency, which is based in Bristol.

Boyle, one of 12 children, was an officer in the Marine Corps for eight years, and was deployed multiple times to Iraq. He also spent time as Marine officer instructor in Quantico, Virginia.

Now an investment banker, Boyle is active in church and is a member of the local American Legion.

The pair is running on a platform of curbing overdevelopment and keeping taxes low.
