Russell, a special education teacher by trade, combined her two passions of music and teaching by creating original music for children. Her canvas for lyrics emphasized songs for children to feel included, valued and special. The musical journey was an instant success.
Meg’s two full-length CDs, “Hat Parade” and “Puzzle,” both won Parents Choice Recommended Awards, placing her music in libraries and Barnes & Noble stores across the country and winning the Independent Music Award, too, along with performances at World Cafe Live in Philly, community events in NYC, Boston, Colorado, Virginia, etc.

More recently, Meg, a professional Nashville recording artist, has expanded her repertoire to include adult contemporary music. Meg brings forms of expression with her warm connective vibe, sense of humor, and unique sound to her audiences. Her newest original songs are an outpouring of inspiration with heart-filled life experiences behind them. Meg’s most recent release, “Hidden Spaces,” made its debut in late May and can be heard on all streaming platforms.
During the concert, the Opus Elite office will be open and offering complementary refreshments and an air-conditioned retreat from the heat.“Concertgoers are welcome to come in, enjoy the snacks, use the restroom if they need to or just to cool down,” said Gatta.
Concertgoers are welcome to bring their own chairs and blankets, order some food to enjoy from a nearby restaurant and find a spot on the sidewalk to enjoy the music, said Gatta.
Gatta said while each performance is free and sponsored by Newtown businesses, he encourages attendees to make a donation to the Opus Outreach Foundation. The foundation supports local families in need, he said.
“There are no administrative costs so every dollar raised goes to the foundation and helping people in the community," Gatta continued. "We also ask that you support our business sponsors because they are the ones providing the free music.”
