NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — "Music On The Street," an eight-concert series of free summer performances, concludes on Thursday, August 28 with a free performance by the Bunker Band on historic State Street in Newtown Borough.

Presented by the Opus Outreach Foundation and sponsored by local businesses, the series has featured a different band and musician every Thursday since early July.

Bringing the summer series to a crescendo on Thursday, August 28 will be the classic rock sounds of the Bunker Band. They will be appearing from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in front of the Opus Elite building at 16 South State Street under the sponsorship of Opus Elite.

"I'm super stoked to be banging away on the percussion with my pals in The Bunker Band," said Fred Poritsky, noting that the band "features the ridiculously talented Bill Sheffer on bass and Vvocals, Harry Betz shredding on lead guitar, Brad Wexler rocking the keyboard, harmonica, and vocals, Paul Venanzi bringing the house down as lead singer, Dave Peel pounding away on drums and vocals, and John Sophy, vocals extraordinaire.

"We'll be taking over State Street in Newtown right in front of Opus Elite Real Estate. Grab a chair, and get ready to rock out to some serious classic rock tunes in downtown Newtown," said Poritsky.

During the concert, the Opus Elite office will be open, offering complimentary refreshments and an air-conditioned respite. “They’re welcome to come in, enjoy some snacks, use the restroom if they need to or just to cool down,” said Mark Gatta of Opus Elite.

Concertgoers are welcome to bring chairs and blankets and find a spot on the sidewalk to enjoy the music, said Gatta.

There is no cost, but donations will be accepted for the Opus Elite Foundation.

“There are no administrative costs so every dollar raised goes to the foundation and helping people in the community," said Gatta. "We also ask that you support the businesses because they are providing the concerts.”
