WRIGHTSTOWN, PA — After being closed for more than a year, the historic Wycombe Inn will reopen this spring under a new name and with new owners at the helm.

The Diaz-Albertini Family, who owns and operates Casa Toro Mexican restaurants in Doylestown and Coopersburg, acquired the property at 1073 Mill Creek Road earlier this year and plans to reopen the landmark tavern by the end of the month.

“The Wycombe Tavern & Grille” will feature a brand new look and feel as well as a new menu spotlighting American Italian Tavern Fare whipped up by Chefs Pete Jones and Kurt Saracini.

Where History Meets Modern Dining

With a menu crafted to reflect its rich character and ambiance, the tavern will be a spot where history meets modern dining, said general manager Emma Jones.

“We’re going to be a from scratch kitchen,” said Jones. “The chefs will be smoking ribs, wings and chicken thighs. I tried a couple and they are delicious,” she said.

“The chefs are also doing homemade pizza dough and hand breaded mozzarella - a lot of really fun things," said Jones.

The lunch and dinner menu will include burgers, handhelds, homemade fish and chips, several seafood and steak entrees including a Salmon Florentine and a fish of the day special, pasta dishes and a full pizza menu featuring 10 to 12 different pies.

“There will be a lot to chose from and something for everybody,” said Jones.

“The chefs will also be doing homemade gelato,” added Jones.

Drawing from its Mexican restaurant background, they plan on doing “some fun things” with tequila-based drinks, including margueritas. “It’s going to be a little different from the last place that focused on your bourbon and whiskey,” said Jones. Two different types of tacos will also be on the menu in addition to a brisket marguerita.

A Rustic Country Vibe

In addition to the new menu, the tavern has undergone interior renovation work “to bring back the Bucks County charm," said Jones. "We want to have that rustic country vibe.”

In addition to serving the broader restaurant market, Jones said a big focus will be on the locals.

“We’ll be offering a Locals Night. The chefs are looking at doing a pig roast outside - kind of like a backyard barbecue to bring the community together. We want to be that small hometown restaurant that people can come to around the corner and come by every week to see us," said Jones.

The tavern will be open Tuesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner.

“Hopefully we can eventually expand that to include brunch,” she said.

“We’re excited,” added Jones. “Everything is coming together nicely. We’re putting together a really great team. Everything is looking pretty good.”

About The Wycombe

The Wycombe has been a beloved part of Wrightstown since the 1890s when it began as the Wycombe Inn. Over the years, it has transformed into several establishments, including the Wycombe Pub & Grill, the Wycombe Publick House, and the Wycombe House.

The historic building has welcomed diners for more than a century. The new Wycombe Tavern & Grille will continue that tradition, offering a warm atmosphere and attentive service, said Jones. With a menu crafted to reflect its rich character and ambiance, it's a spot where history meets modern dining, she said.
