NEWTOWN/LANGHORNE, PA — Despite the rainy weather, a huge crowd turned out at the Summit Square Shopping Center Saturday afternoon to take part in a national mass mobilization of protestors who object to Trump Administration policies.

The event, dubbed the "No Kings" protest, was staged next to U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick's office at 1 Summit Square and was hosted locally by Indivisible Bucks County.

Addressing the crowd were Democratic candidate for Bucks County District Attorney Joe Khan; Democratic candidate for Bucks County Sheriff Danny Ceisler; Pennsylvania Policy Center Campaign Director, Dwayne Heisler; former Bucks County Prothonotary and current candidate for Lower Makefield Supervisor Judi Reiss; and Democratic candidate for Bucks County Prothonotary, Donna Petrecco. More than 1,350 people signed up to attend, although organizers say more than that showed up on Saturday.

“Donald Trump, his billionaire cabinet, and Congressional Republicans are trying to rig our economy against working Americans so they can deliver trillions in giveaways to their billionaire buddies while they trample over our inalienable rights,” said Laura Rose, co-leader of hosting organization Indivisible Bucks County. “We must stand up against this betrayal of American values and ensure every person in our nation knows how Republicans are betraying our communities. We will peacefully join our voices in opposition to Trump’s actions and priorities, and display our support for the foundational principles of equality, freedom, and constitutional checks and balances.”

Patch reached out to Bucks County Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick for a comment on Saturday's protest. The Congressman's communications director, Casey-Lee Waldron responded with the following comment.

“Congressman Fitzpatrick always has — and always will — defend every American’s right to peacefully protest. It is fundamental to our democracy. But he believes deeply these moments must also reflect our best values — unity, respect, and civility. The true measure of our strength isn’t found in division, but in our ability to come together as neighbors and fellow citizens.”
