Police Investigating Thefts From State Street Shops
Police in Newtown Borough are investigating thefts from several retail stores on South State Street that occurred on Wednesday.
NEWTOWN, PA — Police in Newtown Borough are investigating thefts from several retail stores on South State Street that occurred on Wednesday.
Between 4:30 and 5 p.m., two men entered at least three retail stores on State Street. One man distracted the store clerk while the second man walked through employee-only sections of the store and stole the purses belonging to the clerks, according to Newtown Borough Police Chief James Sabath.
The two men then went to a local pharmacy and used the stolen credit cards to purchase gift cards, police said.

Police are pursuing a number of leads in the case, Chief Sabath said. Anyone with information can contact the Newtown Borough Police Department.
