Police Make Arrests For Assault, DUI, Trespassing In Newtown Twp.
The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between May 30 and June 5.
NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between May 30 and June 5:
May 30
- At approximately 10 a.m., police were dispatched to the area of Friends Lane for a narcotics possession report. As a result of the investigation, police spoke with a man and suspected narcotics and drug equipment were discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending.
- Shortly after 11 p.m., police were contacted in regards to the theft of a bicycle from outside Chipotle. The loss was $800.

- At approximately 3:45 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Ford pick-up truck for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Eagle Road and Durham Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
June 2
- At approximately 3:15 a.m., police responded to the area of Twining Bridge Road for the report of a vehicle stuck in someone’s front yard. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

- Throughout the morning, the department received several reports of thefts from vehicles and reports of three stolen and recovered vehicles. The investigation is ongoing at this time. Police remind residents: Don’t leave valuables in the car. Make sure all of the car windows are shut. Lock your car, even if it is parked in your driveway. Lastly, remember to take your keys with you. If you leave your keys in the car, anyone can drive it away.
- At approximately 9:30 a.m., police responded to a Newtown Township residence for a trespassing complaint. As a result of the investigation, a man was taken into custody and charged with criminal trespass.
- Police were contacted around 4:15 p.m. regarding a theft from a Wrightstown Township resident’s field. The loss is estimated at $1,000 to $1,500.
June 4
- At approximately 9 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Jeep for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Sycamore Street. As a result of the investigation, the driver was taken into custody on an active arrest warrant from the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department and transferred without incident.
June 5
- At approximately 5:50 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of South Eagle Road for the report of a dispute. As a result of the investigation, a man was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence and assault. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
