Resident Falls Victim To Wire Fraud, Police Make 2 DUI Arrests: Newtown Twp. Crime Report

In other reports, police charged a Wrightstown resident with simple assault, investigated a theft at a township restaurant.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between Aug. 8 and 13:

August 8

  • At approximately 9 a.m., a Wrightstown resident contacted police to report wire fraud. The total value of loss was $4,410. The incident was documented, and the resident was advised to contact his banks, credit card companies, and credit bureaus to further monitor his accounts.
  • At approximately 10:40 p.m., police conducted a pedestrian stop in the area of South Eagle Road and Swamp Road. As a result of the investigation, the pedestrian was taken into custody on an active arrest warrant from the Philadelphia Police Department and transferred without incident.

  • At approximately 5:45 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Cadillac sedan for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Wawa on Lower Silver Lake Road. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug equipment were discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending.
  • At approximately 6:15 p.m., police were dispatched to a Wrightstown residence for the report of a disturbance. As a result of the investigation, one male subject was arrested and charged with simple assault.
  • At approximately 11 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Nissan Altima for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Buck Road. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug equipment were discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending.

August 13

  • At approximately 8:40 p.m., police were contacted in regards to a theft that occurred at a restaurant in the Newtown Shopping Center. The investigation is ongoing.
