Road Closures, School Delays In Newtown After Storm
Council Rock schools are delayed and multiple road closures are in place Friday in the Newtown area due to an overnight storm.
NEWTOWN, PA — Council Rock schools are delayed and multiple road closures are in place Friday in the Newtown area due to an overnight storm.
Council Rock schools are operating on a two-hour delay due to a power outage.
"Due to the severe storms that occurred overnight, we are urging motorists to use caution during your commute. There are several locations where trees that have fallen and some that pulled down wires," Newtown Township Police said.

Additionally, the following area road closures are in place due to downed trees and wires:
- Pineville Road is closed between Buckmanville Road and 232.
- Highland Road is closed on the s-curve between Wrightstown Road and Scott Drive
- Woodhill Road is closed between Creamery and Russell Court
- The northbound lane of River Road in the area of Stoneybrook Road is closed.
"There is a debris everywhere so drive carefully. Additionally, as we are sure you are aware, there is power outages everywhere. There is a huge backlog for PECO and PennDOT, and we do not know when the roads will be cleared or when the power restored," Upper Makefield Police said early Friday.

Nearly 1,650 in Newtown Township are without power. In Upper Makefield, more than 1,100 have no power, and in Wrightstown nearly 850 have no power.
