Road Work Could Impact Travel In The Newtown Area

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling in and around construction zones.

NEWTOWN, PA — Construction work will impact the following roads in the Newtown area. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather-dependent.

Thompson Mill Road Closure

Thompson Mill Road in Wrightstown will be closed on Monday, Nov. 17 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for culvert work.

South State Street Closure

PECO has extended its daytime closure of South State Street through Friday, Jan. 30, for its gas main installation project. Work began on the project in late July and was originally scheduled to be completed by Oct. 31. The road will continue to be closed weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Centre Avenue to Fountain Farm Road. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Route 332 (Newtown Bypass) and Sycamore Street. Local access will be maintained up to the work area.

Woodbourne Road Work

Motorists who use Woodbourne Road and the Langhorne-Yardley Road can expect daytime travel restrictions throughout November. A periodic lane closure with flagging is scheduled weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Monday, Dec. 1, on Woodbourne Road between Kilburn Road and the entrance to Core Creek Park. A periodic lane closure with flagging can also be expected weekdays from Monday, Nov. 10, through Monday, Dec. 1, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the Langhorne-Yardley Road between Bridgetown Pike and Briggs Road. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when travelling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
