EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA — Snow is in the forecast Monday for Eastern Pennsylvania, with 1 to 3 inches of accumulation possible during the day, according to forecasters.
The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook, saying a wintry mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is expected during the day Monday. Precipitation will transition to rain or freezing rain by the evening.
The chance of precipitation is 80 percent, the National Weather Service predicts.

The low-pressure system with snow and ice will will move to the mid-Atlantic from the Ohio Valley Sunday night, according to the Weather Channel.
The system could bring snow to everywhere from Kansas to New England. From Washington, D.C. to Philadelphia, a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain is expected before a full change over to rain, the Weather Channel said.

"In general, this will be a modest, but disruptive snow and ice event that will likely trigger travel problems for tens of millions from the Plains to the Northeast," information from the Weather Channel said.
Precipitation will linger Tuesday but it is expected to be rain, not snow. Skies clear for the rest of the week, with brisk temperatures and sunny skies in the forecast.

Sunday: Increasing clouds, with a low around 28. West wind 6 to 11 mph becoming light after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph.
Monday: Snow, mainly after 7 a.m. High near 34. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Monday Night: Rain, freezing rain, and sleet before 7 p.m., then rain or freezing rain. Low around 33. Northeast wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New ice accumulation of 0.1 to 0.2 of an inch possible. New sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Tuesday: Rain, mainly before 1 p.m. High near 43. East wind 6 to 8 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 35.
