Newtown Carjacking: Injured Victims Released From Hospital
The man and woman were the victim of a violent carjacking that began at the Chandler Hall Senior Center on Friday and ended in Philadelphia.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Two people who suffered injuries as a result of a carjacking on Friday have been discharged from the hospital, Newtown Township police said Monday.
The man and woman were the victim of a violent carjacking that began at the Chandler Hall Senior Center shortly before 3 p.m. Friday and ended in Philadelphia,police said.
The assailants, 28-year-old Eric Meehan, of Philadelphia and 31-year-old Ashley Young, of Holland, forcibly took a woman's vehicle outside the senior center and struck the man and woman who were trying to help the woman who had just been robbed, police said.

The pair drove off and made it as far as the intersection of Summit Trace Road and Newtown Bypass, where they unsuccessfully attempted to steal another man's car. They traveled to the 500 block of White Swan Way in Middletown Township, where a nearby resident stopped to offer help. They forcibly took his valuables and his vehicle and drove away, abandoning the first stolen vehicle, police said.
Bensalem Township police officers observed the stolen vehicle traveling southbound on Route 1 into Philadelphia. Bensalem police, Philadelphia Police patrol and a Tac-Air helicopter pursued the vehicle to the 1600 block of Orthodox Street, where the suspects struck several parked vehicles and an occupied civilian vehicle before being captured, authorities said.

Meehan and Young were arrested and transported to Bucks County for processing. They face a slew of charges including robbery of a motor vehicle, fleeing or attempting to elude police officers and criminal conspiracy. They were arraigned by Judge John Kelly and taken to Bucks County Jail on $200,000 bail.
They are scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 7.
