NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — This year's BookLovers Party will feature a guest appearance by General George Washington who is scheduled to stop by for a visit on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Stocking Works atrium in Newtown Borough.

For 21 years, the evening of cocktails, conversations, and food, has brought the community together to raise funds for the Newtown Library Company, the oldest operating library in Bucks County.

"The event happens to fall on George Washington's birthday so we are thrilled to announce you will see him at this year's gala," said Nancy Webster, a board member and director for Historical Outreach for the Newtown Library Company. “We are honored that John Godzieba has confirmed he will attend in full uniform from 7 to 8 p.m."

Godzieba famously portrays George Washington at the annual reenactment of Washington Crossing the Delaware in Upper Makefield in December.

"This will be a great opportunity for our guests to share a conversation and to have their photos taken with such an admired historical figure," said Webster.

“The gala itself is a wonderful time for our community to connect and celebrate our own historic Bucks County gem,” said Webster. “This fundraiser is more than an occasion; it's a lifeline for sustaining our beloved library's growth and impact. Your presence and support will ensure that our library will continue to delight and inspire members of all ages in our community.”
