Woman Shot In Suspected Road Rage Incident In Newtown And Middletown Townships
Suspect taken into custody at Route 532 and Stoopville Road in Lower Makefield; firearm recovered and is being processed, police said.
NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — A woman was injured in an apparent road rage incident that turned violent Monday evening on the Newtown Bypass in Newtown Township and on Woodbourne Road in Middletown Township.
Police from the Newtown Township and Middletown Township Police Departments are jointly investigating the incident, which happened around 6:30 p.m. as two vehicles were traveling on the Newtown Bypass and on Woodbourne Road.
Police said while the vehicles were headed eastbound on the bypass, one of the drivers was shot in the wrist by the other driver, police said. As the injured driver drove into Middletown Township on Woodbourne Road, police said the suspect followed, firing another shot before fleeing.

Police said the injured woman was transported to St. Mary Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound to the left wrist. She was listed in stable condition.
Police issued flash information and a description of the vehicle, which was broadcast over police radio. Within minutes of the broadcast, the suspect and vehicle were located at Route 532 and Stoopville Road in Lower Makefield.

The driver was taken into custody by police from Lower Makefield, Newtown Township, Newtown Borough, and the Pennsylvania State Police.
A firearm was also located and recovered and is being processed by the Newtown Township Detective Division.
