Women of Shir Ami Donate Fleece Blankets to NOVA

NOVA, Bucks County’s comprehensive crime victim services agency, is pleased to announce that it received a donation of fleece tie blankets from the Women of Shir Ami in Newtown, Pa. The group, led by member Nancy Axler, a school counselor in the Pennsbury School District, created seven soft, cozy fleece tie blankets to be provided to NOVA clients who are victims of crime or trauma. In addition to offering clients physical warmth, the blankets provide emotional comfort, reminding clients that they are cared for and supported as they engage in counseling to work through their trauma.

“From selecting the fleeces to figuring out the technique of chatting while making the blankets, this was an incredibly fun project,” said Amy Buondonno, board member, Women of Shir Ami. “It was easy to fall into a groove as teams shared the duties of cutting the fringe and making the knots. We all tried to infuse the blankets with as much love and good wishes for NOVA’s clients as we could. We look forward to doing this again.”
