2 Montgomery County Women Representing USA In 2024 Olympics

A pair of locals are tangling with the world's best this week in Paris.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Two women from Montgomery County are representing Team USA in the 2024 Paris Olympics over the coming weeks.

Field hockey superstar Ashley Sessa, of Schwenksville, and rugby hero Ariana Ramsey, of Bridgeport, are the county's two representatives in the games.

Sessa, 20, has been an international caliber athlete for years, being named to the U.S. Women’s National Field Hockey Team at age 16 and dominating the high school circuit. She attended Spring-Ford High School before moving on to Episcopal Academy in Newtown Square, where she graduated in 2022.

Ramsey, 24, is a wing on the women's sevens squad. She saw a meteoric rise as a rugby player after beginning the sport as a sophomore in high school. Before that, she'd been a star track runner and cheerleader. She graduated from Dartmouth College in 2022.

Preliminary rounds of women's rugby sevens are already underway as one of the first competitions of the games. Ramsey and Team USA are 2-1 thus far in early play. Games will continue through late Tuesday.

Sessa and Team USA are 1-1 thus far in early play. Their next game is on Wednesday, July 31 against Australia.
