NORRISTOWN, PA — The man found dead inside a Norristown dumpster late Monday was a homeless man, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office confirmed on Tuesday.

The man has not yet been identified, and his cause of death remains unknown. Authorities have not publicly speculated on the circumstances leading up to his death.

The body was discovered by another homeless man at around 7 p.m. Monday on Haws Avenue, near the Schuylkill River Trail.

The area has been experiencing unusually cold temperatures, with the Norristown area seeing lows of around 39 degrees on Sunday night. Combined with the wind, it was chilly enough for a Code Blue Cold Weather Emergency to be declared by the county.

The Montgomery County District Attorney's office described the victim as a man in his 40s "who was living unhoused and is undocumented."
