DINA Layzis AND ARTEM Tenkeli will be featured in a free concert, on October 18th at 7:00 PM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. A "classically infused dark pop duo" whose desire it is to enrich pop music and make it more complex and beautiful. Free willing offering as the spirit moves you.
Dina’s life as a musician began before she was born. Thanks to the contagious love of music by her parents, music was introduced to her before she knew what music even was. Being raised in a household of classical musicians, she was only four years old when she began studying voice, piano, and violin. Unfortunately, Dina’s parents were forced to leave behind their careers in music when they moved to the United States from Ukraine following the Chernobyl disaster. This alarming turn of events uprooted their life, but to them the beauty of music was far too great for them not to continue to share it with their daughter.
Later, Dina also acquired additional training from the Berklee College of Music. Her classical beginnings and education all helped shape a singer with an accomplished technique who can sing with tenderness and sensuality in several languages.

She carefully infuses her vocals with gentle vulnerability and soaring power, showing impressive command of diverse material and moods. Dina has that special ability to conjure up intimacy in her music. It’s a voice that draws you in creating the sense that she’s standing mere inches away with a secret intended for you alone.
Music is air for the singer. She believes deeply that the magic found in music is one of the most important and beautiful things in the universe. She understands and feels the intricacies of emotions and uses that to communicate through music.

She loves creating what was not there before, and loves those moments when inspiration strikes, when the world seems to stand still and something wonderful comes to life.
` Dina has worked/written and recorded with Oscar, Grammy, and Golden Globe-nominated songwriter/producers such as Jud Friedman, Marco Marinengeli, Rick Allison and Jeff Franzel. Currently she is working with talented pianist Artem Tenkeli creating music with a very unique artistic vision. Making an amazing, dedicated team the two have been performing regularly releasing original music.
Dina and Artem’s journey began after stumbling upon each other through an Instagram ad Dina had launched. The early part of 2021 served as a turning point for both of them. Like many musicians, having experienced their lives turn upside-down during the pandemic, they both were searching for ways to keep chasing their dreams in spite of all that was happening. But casual writing session over WhatsApp turned into an unexpected songwriting partnership that crossed continents and all odds.
Their goals, dreams and journeys so far have all come together as pieces of one puzzle. They both began as classical musicians and immediately there was an innate musical understanding of one another that laid a great groundwork for the creation of something beautiful. In their music they bring melodies to life that push boundaries and break the mold. Instead of trying to fit into what exists, they create music that goes deeper into the human mind and emotions. They color dark with light and light with dark and tap into the parts of us that are most human.
After finally ending up on the same continent together they became fully immersed in and became dedicated to creating and releasing new music together. They want to share music that awakens a deeper part of ourselves. And are determined to show others that anything is possible when you believe in something with all your heart!
