Germantown Pike, Twp. Line Road To Be Shut Down In Norristown

CSX Rail improvements will cause shutdowns of several key roads around Montgomery County this fall.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Two key roads in Norristown will be shut down this fall as CSX Rail, the continental freight railroad company that uses tracks in the area, continues repairs.

First, Township Line Road will be closed from Sunday, Oct. 26, to Saturday, Nov. 1, between North Wales Road and Erbs Mill Road. The detour will take drivers to Township Line Road, Whitehall Road, Route 73, and U.S. 202.

Then, from Sunday, Nov. 2, through Saturday, Nov. 8, Germantown Pike will be shut down from North Wales road to Swede Road.

The detour will take drivers to North Wales Road, Township Line Road, and Swede Road.

Local access for residents will be maintained, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) said.

It's one of four closures CSX has planned in Montgomery County this month. Other closures include:

  • Skippack Pike between North Wales Road and Mara Drive in North Wales from Oct. 19 through Oct. 25
  • Main Street in Royersford, between First Avenue and Second Avenue, from Monday, October 20, to Thursday, October 23
