"June 25, 1979: Susan Reinert, English teacher, brutally murdered in Philadelphia's affluent Main Line area," reads the show's description. "Her body was found in a car trunk. Her children remained missing, sparking public outcry and exposing flaws in the justice system."
The Upper Merion high school principal at the time, Jay Smith, was convicted of killing Reinert and her children and sentenced to death in 1986. However, new evidence uncovered in 1992 ultimately led to his conviction being overturned.
