Montco Towns With The Most, Least New COVID-19 Cases

An updated municipal-level look at case numbers over the past several weeks of the fall surge.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — As the fall surge of coronavirus continues in December, cases remain up in municipalities across Montgomery County.

The county has seen its positivity rate on tests over the past two weeks rise steadily to 9.61, the highest mark of the pandemic. It stood at 8.99 last Tuesday.

Meanwhile, 494 patients are now hospitalized due to the virus countywide, placing significant stress on local healthcare infrastructure healthcare facilities. That number has nearly doubled from just over two weeks ago, when it was 255 on Nov. 23.

“Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 continue to increase in Montgomery County,” Montgomery County Commissioner Val Arkoosh said Tuesday. “As a reminder, both hospitalizations and deaths lag behind cases so we assume that we have not yet seen the peak in hospitalizations or deaths with this surge.

The past week has seen 3,427 new cases and 18 deaths.
