Montgomery County Toys for Tots campaigns urgently seeking volunteers

Toys for Tots has been offering assistance to children since 1947, with the goal of ensuring that every child has a gift for the holidays.

Montgomery County is covered by multiple Toys for Tots campaigns, but that number has decreased in 2024 as some long-time Coordinators have retired. "All Toys for Tots Coordinators are volunteers, and it can be challenging to dedicate the time necessary for the role," said Jeffrey Smith, Coordinator for the Central Montgomery County campaign. "My peers who have needed to step back have put in decades helping the children of Montgomery County, and their dedication has assisted thousands of children over the years"

With the closure of the Toys for Tots campaign centered on Harleysville, four campaigns now cover Montgomery County, centered around Pottstown, Red Hill, Abington, and the central portion of the county. A map can be seen here: https://montgomery-county-pa.toysfortots.org/

While Toys for Tots cannot operate without the gifts donated by the community, the most pressing need that is seen is for additional volunteer assistance. "The people of Montgomery County have been very generous with their donations in the past, so our campaigns usually are able to collect enough gifts to ensure every applicant receives at least two. However, collecting and distributing that many gifts require a lot of hands, and we are asking for the community's assistance to allow us to continue serving the children of Montgomery County" Smith said.
