Norristown To Honor Local Veterans With 'Hometown Heroes' Banners
Residents can apply to have their family members and friends honored throughout the municipality. Details:
NORRISTOWN, PA — Norristown is launching a new iteration of its Hometown Heroes program, featuring residents of the municipality who have served in the armed forces in the past and present.
Banners featuring a photo of the local veteran will be set up throughout the downtown area. Residents can submit applications on behalf of friends and family members online here.
The municipality called the program a "living tribute created for the community to recognize and honor Norristown veterans."

Banners will be 24 inches by 48 inches of heavy vinyl printed on both sides. It will feature the name of the individual, their military branch, and their era of service.
Banners will be displayed in 2026 and 2027, beginning in May and continuing through Veterans Day. Banners will be removed for safekeeping over the winter and then put on display for a second year. They will then be returned to the family member or friend who sponsored the banner.

In order to qualify, individuals must have a connection to Norristown through local schools, family, friends, or other relation at some point in their life.
