Responding officers located Traviezo-Tercero’s body inside the container. An autopsy determined he died from blunt force trauma to the back of the head, and the death was ruled a homicide.
Investigators say Santos-Colon and the victim were known to each other and frequented the same area along the trail. Detectives used witness statements, surveillance footage, and evidence at the scene to identify Santos-Colon as the suspect.
