Norristown Woman, Community Icon Renowned For Kindness, Dies At 78

"She was the kindest woman there ever was," her grandchildren said.

NORRISTOWN, PA — A lifelong local resident and icon of the Norristown community renown for her kindness and generosity has passed away. Nora C. Grant was 78.

Grant was a mother of five and married for 54 years to her husband Daniel Grant Sr.

"Though she held several jobs over the years including with Bell Telephone and Brock Food Services, she seemed to be born to be a wife and mother," her obituary notes. "She always wanted a big family and she got her wish. After raising her five children, she became a Nanny to several others, treating everyone with the same love and kindness for which she was known."

The local Norristown Maenner-Chor club remembered her fondly as well, noting she was "one of the nicest and most gracious women you will ever meet."

"She was always supporting the club, along with her husband Dan," the club said. "Their love for each other and our community should be an example for us all and she will be missed deeply. We are stunned by her passing. Please keep the Grant family in your prayers during this difficult time. Bingo will never be the same."

Nora Grant also enjoyed Atlantic City trips, time with her friends, and following her grandchildren's lives through basketball, baseball, and soccer games, dance recitals, school shows, Grandparents’ Day at school, her obituary notes.

A life celebration will be held at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Life Celebration Home of East Norriton at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28. Another celebration will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m.
