Shooting Death Of Philly Man Being Investigated In Montco

NORRISTOWN, PA — Police in this central Montgomery County community are investigating a fatal shooting of a city man earlier this week.

The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office announced that a man identified as Tyrone Guy, 35, of Philadelphia, was found shot dead in Norristown at around 10 p.m. Monday.

Police responded to the 900 block of West Main Street after 911 dispatchers received a call for 'shots fired,' and upon arrival found a man later identified as Guy lying on the sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the DA's Office.

Guy was taken to Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia where he succumbed to his injuries at around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

The DA's Office said that Forensic Pathologist Victoria Sorokin, of the Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office, conducted an autopsy on the victim and determined his cause of death to be multiple gunshot wounds.

The manner of death was ruled homicide.

Montgomery County detectives and Norristown Police officials are conducting a joint investigation into the circumstances surrounding Guy's death, and still trying to piece together what occurred and who might have been responsible.
