What is Open and Closed on MLK, Jr. Day Around Norristown?

Government: Norristown borough offices in Municipal Hall and Montgomery County government offices will be closed.

Schools: Norristown Area School District schools, St. Francis of Assisi School and Penn Christian Academy will not have a school day.

Trash/Recycling/Yard Waste: J.P. Mascaro and Sons does not use a holiday schedule for this day.

 

Courts: the Montgomery County Courthouse will be closed.

 

Libraries: the Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library will be open.

 

SEPTA: some SEPTA lines will run on a modified schedule

 

PennDOT Drivers License Centers: the PennDOT centers will be closed.

 

Banks: the day is a bank holiday and many banks will be closed.

 

Mail: USPS post offices will be closed.

 

Liquor Stores: According to the PA Liquor Control Board website, all Wine & Spirits stores will closed.

 

Zoos: The Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown is open and there is free admission (though a donation is appreciated), and the Philadelphia Zoo in Philadelphia is open.
