How Low Will They Go? Why Experts Predict North Allegheny Area Gas Prices Will Drop Even More

See which stations have the lowest gas prices in the North Allegheny Area.

The summer driving season is just around the corner, a time when North Allegheny area drivers brace for more pain at the pump.

But maybe not this year.

Jeff Edwin of Ross was pleasantly surprised Monday when he filled up his sport utility vehicle at the Sheetz on Babcock Boulevard for $3.57 a gallon.

“Get it while it's less than $3.60, you know? It's a good thing,” Edwin told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review . “I'm just hopeful they stay the way they are, and don't start rising again for as long as they can. I'm an average worker with average pay ... and it makes a big difference in my life.”

Retail gas prices have dropped steadily since the end of February because more refineries have come back on line after routine maintenance, and crude oil prices have moved sharply lower, reports the AAA .

Analysts predict prices could fall another 20 cents a gallon during the next two months because of lower-than-expected demand in the world's two largest economies, the United States and China.

According to GasBuddy.com, these five stations are offering the lowest prices in North Allegheny area right now.

  • Thomas Service Center, 821 W. Ingomar Road, McCandless ($3.49 a gallon)
  • Gulf, 740 W. Ingomar Road, McCandess ($3.49 a gallon)
  • Citgo, 2330 Rochester Road in Franklin Park ($3.50 a gallon)
  • Unbranded, 739 W. Ingomar Road, McCandless ($3.51 a gallon)
  • Sheetz, 8607 Perry Highway, McCandless ($3.57 a gallon)
