La Roche College Plans Third Annual 5K Race

The race takes place on the final day of the 2013 Homecoming Weekend celebration.

La Roche College is hosting a 5K race on the final day of its Homecoming Weekend 2013 celebration.

The 5K race begins at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 21 and is open to the public. 

The course is mainly concrete, explores the best features of the La Roche campus and includes three major hills, according to a news release.

Jeff Dailey, assistant director of student development, said the family-friendly event is for runners of all abilities, and participants will never have to cross a street or negotiate traffic.

The first three men and women contestants to finish will receive awards. Following the race, refreshments will be served and runners will have access to shower facilities.

Participants who register in advance for $15 receive a free T-shirt. Limited on-site registration also is available for $20 on the day of the race. 

Check-in and on-site registration will open at 8:30 a.m. in front of the Kerr Fitness & Sports Center at the college’s main campus.
